Some patients require this procedure to gain space for alignment, to avoid extracting teeth, and to increase stability. A high speed dental handpiece with a thin diamond bur is used between the teeth to make a small amount of space. The procedure is safe and effective; and we have used this technique for hundreds of patients including my own children as well as several dentists. Interproximal recontouring increases stability and prevents the extraction of permanent teeth. Injections (shots) are not required for this procedure.
Before Treatment | After Treatment - All of the spaces have been closed and teeth are aligned and bleached. |
These cases are usually held with a bonded retainer.
